An allochthounous black berry species of vine, of french origin, which is nevertheless diffused in the temperate-hot areas of the whole world. In Italy it is also used, with other grapes, to produce some great wines and it is a valuable product even by itself. It shows good qualities in adapting also to dry and windy climates where as it does not flourish in humid or extremely fertile grounds. It has a middle-sized/little, cylindrical, often alate, quite solid bunch, the grape is middle-sized, spherical, with a blue-purple peel, a slightly fleshy pulp and a light herbaceous taste.
