"Vinitaly" is the most important appointment of the year in Italy's wine scene. It usually takes place in the month of April in the exhibition area of the city of Verona. It represents the ideal meeting point the winemakers, professionals of the wine/food field and consumers. The ever-growing success of this wine exhibition shows in the stratospheric figures of the recent editions'balance: more than 1.300 winemakers from 26 different countries and a considerable growth of visitors, whose number has doubled since 1995. Besides presenting the audience the new products, winemakers can confront each other in several wine contests taking place during the exhibition. During Vinitaly 2002 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has distiguished itself even deserving a protagonist role in the tastings organized by the Italian Association of Sommeliers. The pavilion reserved to the wines of the region of Abruzzo has had a considerable number of visitors and a growing appreciation for the quality improvement of the exposed products. The Buccicatino farm has presented "Don Giovanni" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2000 in preview, obtaining positive reactions.
