Cantine aperte (Open cellars) is an exhibition which take place in Italy. Its protagonists are Italy's wines, its people and its territories. This exhibition take place every year on the last sunday of may in the cellars of the farms which are members of the "Wine Tourism Movement". The event draws the attention of tourists and residents, made courious by an initiative which represents the first signal of an opening, of dialogue and direct contact and the chance to go through an experience of great cultural interest and human value. It's especially the youth, by themselves, in couples or groups, who contribute to the vitality of "Cantine Aperte" and of the numerous initiatives of food and art culture which flourish around the event thanks to the producers themselves. Since the first edition which took place in 1993, the exhibition has had constant success and an exponential growth. Its success is due to the gradual involvement of the whole national territory and to the subsequent awareness of the winemakers themselves who, as time went by, realised that unexpected reception potentialities were developing until these potentialities reached the surprising numbers of the last year: more than 800 open cellars for one million enthusiatic "wine-tourists".
